In December 2010, I along with my family went trekking to Annapurna Region when we came across Mr Shiba Rijal, Founder and Managing Director of Life Himalaya Trekking P. LTD, a wonderful tour organizer, he arranged everything we needed during our trek, and had won our hearts.
After the trek, we kept in touch via email. The second time I saw him was on December 20, 2011, and we went on the Langtang Tamang Heritage Trekking tour together.
On the way, we happened to learn about schools and health-posts supported by foreigners. I also felt interested in supporting them, and I talked to Mr Rijal about my interest. As he agreed to take us to show Satyadevi village where he was born, raised and received school education, it is a a very remote village.
We stayed there for a week. During our stay, we discussed with Shiba’s family and his local villagers.
The crowd came to a decision of opening an organization; we named it “Ganesh Himal Community Foundation.” My wife, Melinda Wilson, and I immediately handed over $2000.00 to the school headmaster and the SMC members for “Computer Teaching.” We had given them words of continuous “help” and “support” in the future as well.
